Hot Fuss by The Killers

I am going to be completely honest and say that in the fourth grade in 2004, I had no idea what kind of music was my absolute favorite. I had a tendency to listen to what was playing in the car on the way to school which was mainly the hard rock that plays on 98Rock. On occasion though, mom would switch to 98.5KTK to reminisce on the music of her time I guess.
One day, I remember sweeping the floor at my house while my parents were out at dinner. I had recently discovered the Music Choice channels on our cable and was listening to the Hot Tracks channel. One song came on and I instantly liked it. It had a different feeling to it than my usually headbanging or really depressing rock music. It had a synth sound that was easy to dance to and lyrics that made absolutely no sense to a fourth grade level me. That song was "Somebody Told Me" by a new band called The Killers. I danced to it like a maniac with broom in hand. Every time it came on, the volume would go up.
Hot Fuss     Time went by though and I forgot about that catchy tune. Riding in the car one day, mom turned on the radio and was sick of the usual 98Rock and changed to the channel alternative of 98.5. It was the "current" hour, so all of the new music was playing. That's the first time I heard "Mr. Brightside"  and fell in love all over again.
I know that was a pretty long story about how I heard two songs from the same band, but those two songs are what changed my music preference for probably what will be forever. When I got The Killers's debut album, "Hot Fuss," I could not stop listening to it. It was perfect, fresh, and new.
To this very day, you will find "Hot Fuss" in the CD visor holder in my car and on my phone. Just this past two days I have been on a kick and listening to the album on repeat and jamming in my car on the way to school. "Hot Fuss" is one of those timeless albums that I recommend everyone to listen to, no matter what your music taste.
